Regent Cinemas has been a family run business for nearly 90 years in Albury. Originally built for live theatre and Vaudeville days The Regent, as it was known as back then, became the Number One Cinema in Albury Wodonga. After the closure of Albury’s other cinemas, The Regent forged ahead and formed an association in the late 70’s with the progressive Village Roadshow Corporation.

The single cinema operations then became a two screen complex and The Cinema Centre thrived.

In 1995, the Cinema Centre began the process of adding new screens to become a multiplex cinema and one of the largest of its kind in Regional Australia. 2004 also welcomed another three screens including a Gold Class cinema and Showcase cinema which was used primarily for arthouse, foreign and special interest films.

Towards the end of 2015, the Showcase cinema was converted into a second Gold Class Cinema and the Gold Class Experience was improved upon. The existing Café Regent was refitted to be a larger foyer for the new and improved meeting place for Gold Class.

Cinema 1 is currently listed as part of the Heritage Trust of Australia.

It’s reputation as a family entertainment centre has been achieved through the combination of many factors, but most importantly through the efforts of providing a high level of customer service to patrons. In addition, the mix of old world charm and state of the art screens and sound systems makes going to the movies an enjoyable and relaxing experience for the whole family to enjoy. Regent Cinemas is generally recognised as the heart of entertainment in Albury.
